My first Pixel art with Pyxel Edit

I made my very first gifs! Snail on steroids is my personal favourite. Isaac challenged me to make a sparrow with as few pixels as possible so that's the reason for the wee sparrow.

We're using a programme called Pyxel Edit and it's sooooo easy to use! I love it! (Evidenced by the pixel art which I've never succeeded at before)

I just had to animate cute things!

Autumn in Auckland

A few fun little doodles I drew in my sketch book. Autumn is slowly giving way to winter here in New Zealand. It's so cold here today that my wonderful boyfriend is currently making me a fire.
The trees have been making us some beautiful colours lately. Of course, trees don't really give a fuck about what you think, they just need to rid themselves of their burdensome life-sucking leaves for the winter.

Also, for fun, I've been occasionally been drawing my outfits. Because I'm a fucking fashionista that's why! (I'm really really not)

Sexy Fishy Circle - Balloon Mollies

My favourite fish is the chimera at the top there. Look up some deep sea footage, it's one creepy fish!. Obviously my chimera isn't entirely accurate but it was inspired.

One of my mates got a fish tank and bought some Balloon Mollies to bring them joy. They bought two girls and a boy, so...next thing you know, millions of babies! I really want to get a tank to accommodate the surplus so they might bring me joy, but Isaac is yet to be convinced. He believes there is no joy to be had in a tank full of imprisoned aquatic semen. I remind him that there is no joy to be had in an unhappy girlfriend. ;)

This is my Balloon Molly coaster.
Peace out.

Bugs in a Circle - Comics

I'm really loving circles at the moment, so these have started appearing in my sketchbook. Isaac and I bought a marker pen each a couple weekends ago and I'm loving my pop green! Especially since all I seem to draw is bugs and fish so it works.

Until next time

My Sexy Fishy Circle

My sexy fishy circle ;)

So I'm trying something new, which will hopefully be printed as a series of coasters. I was really inspired by this podcast, and decided to make something. Dan Berry said something really cool while interviewing an illustrator. He said something to the affect of "You get paid for the work you already do." Which really struck a chord with me. I feel like I've been sitting round waiting for my dream job to show up, when in reality, I have to make it.

Peace out <3

The Beautiful Slug

Hey guys!
I'm over half way finished with my 20 page comic, The Poo Smell. I've just got 6 more pages to draw and it can be released online for you all to read. I've attached a couple of process shots to wet you palette.

This spread was by far the hardest drawing in the book. I had to have both pages open simultaneously to keep the consistency. I also worked on them both at the same time and my progress drawing the comic became a slow crawl which eventually stopped completely over Christmas and the new year. It took me a long time to get back into the flow of things.

This (above) is a weird image. I was pulling the colours from previous pages (which I had flattened, hidden and stored in the current page file under all the layers) and I thought the image it created was worthy of a screen shot.

And this is the final spread, with the Smell being pulled through the noses of everyone in the park. I'm really happy with the way it turned out, but all up I think this spread took far too long for me to complete!

This last image I thought I'd add in for fun. Its a sketch I drew in my sketch book, eventually it'll be turned into something. A poster maybe, I can't commit to any more projects right now. I've already got my next comic/story lined up after The Poo Smell. Watch this space

Peace out folks

The Poo Smell

Hi guys! I've been working on a 20 page comic called The Poo Smell. Zinefest 2016 is going to be my first year at a table so that's exciting. I plan to have The Poo Smell finished along with at least one other comic which I'll start talking about once this one is finished.

The comic will be released online once it's all shippy shape

Dixie Cummings & John Young Invites

Hi Guys!

Just thought I'd post some designs I did for Dixie Cummings this year. The iMac mockup is from Graphic Burger, which you should totally check out. Infact, the bokeh background I used in the design is from Graphic Burger too.

Last night Isaac and I finally watched Spiderman 3 together, and as you already know, it was terrible. It would have been alright if a 12 year old hadn't written the middle segment. It's taken me this long to watch the film because I knew it was embarrassing, I was not disappointed. That said, it did get better after the um...narcissistic emo scene. Venom was awesome at the end there. You know, when he wasn't on Maguire. His teeth were rad!

Hopefully I'll have some more cool stuff to show you soon.
Keep being awesome!

In the Zone

I was zoned out for...quite some time. Also, after I spent several hours making this rather average comic, I spent about half an hour making this adorable pyramid. At least I made one thing that I'm happy with.
I now also know how to spell pyramid.

Gravity

Me and the boyfriend saw the movie Gravity in the weekend. Isaac and I left the cinema feeling like we'd just come from space. We also discovered that Sandra Bullock is a fox

But seriously, Gravity was a great movie. It was so atmospheric. The movie begins with a single shot that lasts for ten of fifteen minutes. It seamlessly travels from first person to third person view. It is a movie to get lost it.

Gravity is probably the best movie I've seen all year.
I was actually scared to go see it because this is one of my worst fears, getting lost in space. I expected the film to be an hour long film about Sandra Bullock and George Clooney spinning out into space and slowly dying.

It wasn't.
It was great.
Now go see it.

Some advice, see it on the big screen

Poo Pong

Cleaning room 0% complete
Poo comic 100% complete
It's good to know where my priorities lie.
Don't I draw myself in such a handsome way?

Live Below the Line (Day 5)

Day 5
The toughest of all days.

Breakfast tasted like mush and had some unpleasant bran-type side effects.
Lunch was once again microwaved eggs. Super gross.
My apples were the only nice thing, I had two on day 5 because I had 6 apples to eat over the week. So that was a treat. For dinner my boyfriend and I went over to our friend Matt's place. I had enough food to make a pasta with tomatoes and mix veg but the boys insisted they eat with me. We went shopping, and then we WAITED until midnight to have our celebratory feast. I'm a little ashamed of how much food I stuffed my face with on Friday night.

SO GOOD.
Thanks for everyone who donated, we raised $400 for Orphans Aid!!! Also, thanks for everyone who couldn't donate but gave me some words of encouragement. I really needed those. Lastly, I'd like to thank my work mates who had to put up with me on Thursday and Friday when I was loosing my mind a little bit.
