It's good to know where my priorities lie.
Don't I draw myself in such a handsome way?

Live Below the Line (Day 5)

Day 5
The toughest of all days.

Breakfast tasted like mush and had some unpleasant bran-type side effects.
Lunch was once again microwaved eggs. Super gross.
My apples were the only nice thing, I had two on day 5 because I had 6 apples to eat over the week. So that was a treat. For dinner my boyfriend and I went over to our friend Matt's place. I had enough food to make a pasta with tomatoes and mix veg but the boys insisted they eat with me. We went shopping, and then we WAITED until midnight to have our celebratory feast. I'm a little ashamed of how much food I stuffed my face with on Friday night.

SO GOOD.
Thanks for everyone who donated, we raised $400 for Orphans Aid!!! Also, thanks for everyone who couldn't donate but gave me some words of encouragement. I really needed those. Lastly, I'd like to thank my work mates who had to put up with me on Thursday and Friday when I was loosing my mind a little bit.

Skadi Costume Contest (Pineapple Maki)

It's Hallow's eve, Skadi and Diseasoid trot out their brand new outfits and hurry along to get to the Strip Search themed Halloween party. Upon arrival however, they discover that the party's theme was not a Penny Arcade Strip Search, but a good old fashioned 'take off each others clothes' strip search. To make matters worse, Grund is here and has no intention of stripping Skadi.

This picture is for the Skadi Comic Costume Contest. My boyfriend, Izak, did one too, you can find it here; http://www.izaksmells.com/2013/09/skadi-as-diseasoid.html
He does a really good job of emulating Katie's style
He also did this sweet 8 bit Pineapple Maki.

If you haven't seen Strip Search, you really should. My two favourite artists got to the finals, I was pretty stoked. I wont spoil it for you so you'll just have to guess which two are my favourites.

America's Cup. I've Never Been Prouder to be a Kiwi

It's been a tough day (especially for those of us who work at call centres) but it's true, I've never been prouder to be a Kiwi. I couldn't watch the race because I was on the phones all day but I was dreading the news. The thing I was dreading more than the news was people's reaction, I couldn't stand it if anything negative was said about team New Zealand.

I need not have worried.
Everyone had only good things to say about team New Zealand.
Even if they did take their frustration out on the girl on the phones at the call centre.

Lets just hope we never end up here
;)

Good on you team New Zealand!

Live Below the Line (Day 4)

Today's photo filter is grey scale.
I apologise though, I was at work today and forgot to take pictures of my food. I had the exact same breakfast as I have all week and lunch was a microwaved scrambled egg. It was...pretty gross but we'll move past that.

Dinner was pretty yum tonight. I had an egg left over from lunch so I chucked it in with my canned tomato and pasta and it was awesome. Also it helped that I have been so stingy with my canned tomatoes, that tonight I had extra to put in.

One downside to my Live Below the Line diet? Heart burn. Too many acidic foods and not enough basics. Also, last night I was craving beef jerky so so bad. Can't wait to have meat again, weirdly.

I ate it ALL. Also, I figured out that if you cut and apple in half, and put it in the fridge, all the sugar comes to the surface. You've seen it before, when you get annoyed because your apple has gone brown. Well, if you leave it overnight and pull it out of the fridge, its chilled and sugary, more so than a normal apple. Oh man its good! It's like chilled candy right from God's pantry.

Do it.
On a rather awesome note, we've raised almost $400 to go towards child poverty on my Live Below the Line page. Isn't that awesome!? Thanks to everyone who has donated, and thanks for everyone who has been supportive, even if they couldn't afford to donate. Donations are open until the 1st of November, lets see if we can get over $400!!!

You guys are the best :)

UPDATE!
We've reached $400!!!

Bee and PuppyCat

A little bit of fan art there. I hardly ever do fan art, from memory I've posted fan art one other time on this blog. So guys, this must be seriously good stuff.  Everyone needs to see this. There's a second one too, and hopefully more in the future. I must have watched this at least six times already.

This chick is my new hero. (Creator of Bee and PuppyCat)
Also she's friends with another guy that I'm a huge fan of. You can find him here
He like mustaches

Live Below the Line (Day 2)

Breakfast today was some weird omelettey scramble with frozen vegies

It looks pretty gross but it was actually decent. I'm probably eating better than usual. Except less. I'm not enjoying the less part. I'm already craving chocolate in the worst way.

And again, I swapped breakfast with lunch because I felt like eggs this morning. Today I only used half the apple in the porridge so that I can have the other half as a snack later this afternoon.

Now for dinner!
Dinner was a bit disappointing for me.

I measured everything out perfectly. No chance that the end of the week will catch me with my pants down! Chucked the pasta in the pot and the tomatoes in pan with some vegies.

Boom! Dinner Day 2! Except half way through I didn't feel so great. It may have been because a serving size according to the pasta packet is HUGE. Anyway my tummy wasn't treating me with all the love and respect I deserve so I opted to go for a piece of bread and a lie down for dinner.

Oh well.
Better luck tomorrow!

Living Below the Poverty Line (Day 1)

The challenge?
Spend 5 days feeding yourself with $2.25 a day – the New Zealand equivalent of the extreme poverty line.

Hi everyone!
This week I'm doing the Live Below the Line challenge, I'll be living of $11.25 for food this week. With that money I bought a loaf of bread, some eggs, apples, two cans of tomatoes, rolled oats, pasta and some frozen vegies. That is my food for the week.

My first meal. I was craving butter as soon as the toast popped. But it was nice. So I've rationed my apples to one a day and eggs, two a day.

For lunch, this is a little backwards, but I had porridge with stewed apple. It was pretty good. There was no milk obviously and no sugar but it was good. Tasted like porridge with no milk and sugar with a mild taste of stewed apple. Go figure

I forgot to take a picture of what I had for dinner but I'll be having the same thing tonight (and all the other nights) so I'll post a picture then.

Nudes Around the House and Other Charities

Some nudey fun for you there. I'm participating in Live Below the Line this year. It's a charity that is run to kick poverty in the bottom by eating rice for a week. The picture above was sold to raise money for Orphan's Aide which is the charity I'm raising money for. Our team has raised over $5,000!!! Woah! More info on the website.

A Munted Mongrel Rabit

Just for giggles, I thought I'd show you this. This is a bunny I made when I was quite young. Judging by the fact that this thing is hardly sewn I would think I'd have been between the ages of eight and ten. This thing is so munted I had to take photos!

Also last weekend I had my very first exhibition at Lincoln Road Bible Chapel. Here are a few poorly taken photos from my phone.

I'll add some photos that were taken of the work professionally to make up for my bad photos. Siobhan Hunt is my amazing sister-in-law and photographer.
You can see more of her photography and my work on my website.
